Job Description

JOB PURPOSE To contribute towards the creation of unique product strategies and product portfolios which are immediately compelling to customers. To understand customers product requirements in detail and works with others in the NPA Team to develop innovative new products to solve customer requirements and/or problems. To contribute to the design of technology/IP roadmaps and to long term product definition roadmaps. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCES Qualifications * B.Eng Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent. * M.Eng desirable Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Competences * 5-10 years experience. Including: o Significant track record for example, 6 complete product development cycles in a mixed signal semiconductor company as a design engineer, apps engineer, or test engineer o Previous engineering experience in the mixed signal semiconductor industry in a senior or leadership role in design, applications or test engineering and seeking a move into product definition or o Experience as a hardware design leader in the consumer electronics or mobile phone industry with a strong focus on power management, audio, signal processing, and SOC reference designs. * Broad experience of customer systems, requirements and competing solutions * Knowledge of the semiconductor development process combined with an advanced knowledge of chosen product specialism eg high performance audio, low power design, power management or mems * Possesses good understanding of semiconductor technology and IP libraries * Understanding of competitor solutions and product portfolios to a level where recommendations on how to position the company competitively in a system are possible. * Detailed knowledge of competitive product landscape Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills: * Able to analyst competitive product offerings and define immediately compelling feature differentiators * Able to uncover new technical requirements and define a product port folio to maximise revenue * Able to communicate complex technical requirements in a clear and professional manner * Analog and Mixed signal design, semiconductor development process, audio subsystems, professional audio systems, acoustic engineering, low power design, power management, signal processing, mems. System level knowledge of consumer electronic devices including: * Mobile handsets, smart phones, media players, portable navigation, TV, HiFi, PC, UMPC, scanners. Automotive ICE. * Good interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills * Good presentation skills * Good influencing and negotiation skills * Creative and innovative * Team worker * Flexible/adaptive * Basic project management skills.
