Product Marketing Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Marketing Manager to join a well established organisation based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
As a Product Marketing Manager you will be responsible to market the clients\' product to best effect, ensuring that the sales process is fully supported, including competitor positioning of both of the product itself and individual features.
Job responsibilities:
Ensure that Senior Management are fully briefed on all key trends in the ITSM tools markets through regular, concise communication, recommending actions to exploit opportunities or to counter competitor threats.
Ensure that the ongoing product evolution and marketing is systematically managed, working closely with the product development & marketing teams to ensure the benefits of the product are effectively positioned and supported with competitive features and powerful collateral within our chosen markets.
Lead product specific marketing to all audiences - both buyers (corporates) and influencers (analysts, the press, key industry conferences etc) to ensure that the current strengths of the product are fully understood by our chosen markets and channels.
Manage relationship with product partners including working with the relevant teams on the selection and appointment of new partners, in line with Company strategy. Where appropriate this will involve the development and managing the implementation of joint marketing initiatives that support our clients\' software product revenue growth.
Focus on customer retention strategies ensuring a high degree of customer loyalty and customer interaction - for example drive an active version upgrade initiatives through the install base.
Work with the Product Management team to ensure that the product roadmap is maintained & published regularly and that it meets the needs of current and future customers, ensuring that the sales and client management teams have all the necessary sales tools and that each main feature is supported with detailed Market Requirement Documentation.
Work with marketing and sales colleagues across all geographies to ensure that the strengths and customer value of the current product are effectively marketed and sold to their end audiences.
Deliver appropriate sales training for important existing and new features ensuring that the externally facing teams are skilled in delivering value based selling of the product.
Candidates must have/be:
International marketing experience having worked for leading software or services companies for a number of years.
At least five years relevant experience of Product Marketing with in a B2B environment.
Technically and commercially strong with ability to analyse, understand and articulate the product in the context of the current and future competitor products and new feature development.
A strong, motivated team player who is proactive, energetic, organised, thinks creatively and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Strong market analysis skills, with ability to effectively analyse a market, identify key trends and competitive positions, win/loss reporting and points of differentiation.
A skilled communicator; internally to convincingly sell concepts and market views gaining support quickly for ideas, externally working with sales teams to present to clients the main benefits of our clients software product on large or strategically important sales.
Comfortable presenting in high pressure situations as part of the new business sales process as well as large conference presentations.
Demonstrates a stable career history
Candidates educated to degree level, with a post graduate marketing qualification would be desirable. As would candidates with working knowledge of IT operational Management and IT Service Management markets and an understanding of ITIL and ISO 20000 would be a distinct advantage. Experience of operating and communicating effectively within international cultures would be a distinct advantage, as would knowledge of a second language.
