    Department: Shops

    Reporting To: Shop Manager


    Main Purposes Of Job:

    * To assist Shop Manager in maximising sales and control in line
    with Company Standards
    * To ensure that customer service within the shop is of the
    highest standard
    * To account for cash and stock in accordance with Company
    rules and regulations
    * To ensure that only quality products are offered for sale
    * To assist Shop Manager in instructing and directing shop staff
    to provide and maintain a safe and hygienic workplace
    * To ensure all staff are trained to Company standards
    * To Manage the Shop on the Shop Manager’s day off and in
    periods of holiday or sickness


    Sales and Customer Service

    * Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained
    * Encourage and strengthen a friendly and pleasant working
    environment which reflects the Company image
    * Assist Manager in guiding and directing staff into maximising
    sales by implementing good selling techniques
    * Prepare and display all products to Company plan
    * Ensure all products are correctly priced and ticketed
    * Ensure staff charge correct prices and wrap products correctly
    * Deal with customer complaints and bring them to a
    quick and satisfactory conclusion
    * Ensure all products prepared or baked on the premises meet
    Company standards
    * Assist Shop Manager in ensuring that key products are available
    throughout the day
    * Maximise sales and control stales via correct use of the ordering
    and amends system
    * Assist Shop Manager in analysing settlement sheet and shop
    performance card to identify future sales trends
    * Discuss with your Shop Manager ways of increasing sales


    Accounting for Cash

    * Complete cash statement sheet neatly and accurately
    * Assist Shop Manager in ensuring all staff follow Company till
    procedures
    * Carry out all Company procedures relating to cash, banking,
    wages, stocks, deliveries, staff purchases and security
    * Inform Shop Manager on a daily basis of any cash discrepancies
    (On Manager’s day off inform Area Manager when discrepancy is
    over agreed amount)
    * Ensure all staff understand new instructions relating to cash
    security
    * Assist Shop Manager in analysing shop settlement sheet to
    account for any surpluses or deficiencies


    Quality

    * Assist in the training of staff to ensure that only quality
    products are offered for sale
    * Ensure all products meet Company specifications

    Health and Safety

    * Ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times


    Hygiene

    * Ensure that Company Hygiene standards are maintained by
    following cleaning schedules and allocating resources
    * Ensure yourself and all staff are presentable in appearance and
    dressed to Company standard
    * Assist Manager in ensuring all practices and procedures comply
    with good hygiene standards


    Staff Training

    * Assist Shop Manager in ensuring all staff including bake-off and
    takeaway are fully trained to perform their jobs
    * Recognise potential where it exists and encourage staff to
    develop within the Company


    General

    * Assist Shop Manager in ensuring all procedures and rules as
    outlined in the Shop Procedures Manual and Company
    Handbook are followed at all times
    * Assist Shop Manager in ensuring all new procedures, notices
    and legislative requirements are communicated to and
    understood by all staff
    * Assist Manager in updating all of the team on the overall shop
    performance
    * Lead by example by demonstrating a willingness to physically
    carry out any duties necessary to the needs of the business
    * Carry out all reasonable requests made by management
